Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Website - 2

Build a Website With No HTML Experience

Guide - Page -1- | -2- | -3- | -4- | -5- | -6- | -7- | -8-

The Basic Steps are:

  1. Register a Domain Name
    Next Step:
  2. Set up a Hosting Plan
  3. Get a Template, or Webpage Builder Software
  4. Obtain or Create Graphics
  5. Create and/or Customize the Home Page
  6. Copy it for Each Additional Web Page and Customize
  7. Upload the Files to the Hosting Server Account
  8. Test, Modify, Upload - Repeat Until Done

Step 2 - Setup a Hosting Plan for Your Website

You should know what features your website will need before you select your Hosting Plan. Basic plans offered usually include Microsoft or Linex services (servers). If you don't know what those are, it doesn't matter which you select for now. Most plans provide the tools, scripts and other basics you would want to use as long as you do NOT need to support a retail operation complete with inventory, order processing and the rest.

If you want a Retail Store website with product inventory, secure customer orders and payment processing, you need a Hosting Plan with secured Shopping Cart features. These Retail Internet Stores are not included in MyMinisites Network Custom Website Designs or online instructions at this time.

On-line stores require more features (and much more programming) and will cost more for the hosting plan and the website to support a retail operation. You would look for Shopping Cart, Catalog, and Checkout features.

MyMinisites Network recommends Yahoo Stores for high exposure and other reasons, but they are beyond the scope of this Step Guide. Yet, our services include Yahoo Store RTML programming and support under a custom contract. Email me to begin a dialogue for an estimate if desired.

If you want to accept credit cards over your website, even for one or a few products, we recommend you read about Payment Processing at our sister site too. Many alternatives are available depending on your products.

Click to get Hostgator Hosting NowIf you do NOT need a Retail Store website, I found Hostgator has the services you will need and their control panel the easiest to use that we have seen (that includes GoDaddy and several others). We use Hostgator online Chat support and they are always quick at solving problems right away.

Please take advantage of their easy-to-use features and MyMinisites Network support for their tools by using these Hostgator links.

The Hostgator's easy-to-use cPanel with web statistics let you see how many visitors you have had at your website and there are more tools than you will probably need. You can get started at Hostgator when you are ready. You will want a credit or debit card, or PayPal account information handy.

Her is another advantage of using Hostgator that you might want to consider. You only pay $9.95 for this plan. You can build many websites with different domain names, and host them all under the same account. Yes, with Hostgator's Baby Croc plan, you can do almost ANYTHING you want. Click here for Hostgator

This is my plan and I love it. The Baby Croc account comes with full support for my Wordpress blog, a simple shopping cart, and everything I need. It supports my reunion and family websites and my decorating and gardening websites. It is perfect for adSense and affiliate marketing, including enough disk space for plenty of photos and gobs of content pages.
