Organized 1924
Federated 1925
The Woodstock Garden Club was organized by 22 women in 1924 and federated in 1925. The objectives of our club are
to study gardening in all of its aspects, to preserve conservation of our natural resources, to encourage civic
beauty and to cooperate with other agencies furthering the interest of horticulture and conservation.
Our members have enjoyed excursions to interesting nurseries, public and private gardens, areas of local
interest, and a guided tour of a fen. All destinations were within driving distance from Woodstock, IL. The club
meetings have a variety of formats. They have included speakers, demonstrators, slide presentations and
instructional workshops. Luncheons, dessert meetings, sack lunches, picnics or fine dining have been included with
most of our programs.
The club encourages members to attend District I meetings of the Garden Club of Illinois, the National Council
of State Garden Clubs, to participate in and attend Flower Shows, to attend Flower Show Schools and Landscape
Design Schools, to visit each other’s gardens and to share plants and horticulture knowledge. We have fun, develop
close friendships and have a common interest in nature, in our community and environs.
Anyone interested in gardening and living in the Woodstock Illinois area can become a member after
attending 2 meetings as a guest and filling out a membership application.
