the first table tag has a width for the max view rendered in the browser. I found 755 works well, but you can change it and see what happens.

there are BGCOLOR identifiers in some other TABLE tags (white, here). You can change those colors and see what happens.

I couldn't get the borders to work right without using tables and the bgcolors in the template.

Most of the styles are defined in the style section of this template. Look for the colors and font sizes in the formatting and header tags there.

The " " is a space in HTML.

The DIV tags are "layers" - for layout.

That's enough for this lesson - You will be comfortable with HTML soon. It's really quite easy.
